PortCastelló expands Mediterranean routes and leads in solid bulk transit

PortCastelló has expanded its maritime connectivity through the launch of the ‘West Med Line’ by the Italian shipping company Messina Line. This new regular service will connect the port with Algeria, Libya, France, and Italy, with departures scheduled every ten days. The route is designed for both imports and exports, providing a strategic advantage for the local ceramic cluster by facilitating the movement of raw materials and finished products like glazes, machinery, and supplies.

In addition to new shipping routes, PortCastelló has emerged as the leader in solid bulk transit across the Mediterranean coast. Between January and July 2026, the port moved 5,087,621 tons of solid bulk, representing a 10.6% increase compared to the previous year. This growth contrasts with the overall Spanish port system, which saw a 2.7% contraction in the same category. The port's total accumulated traffic reached 11,758,940 tons during this period, an 8.9% increase.
