Portel City Council to reimburse student activity notebook costs
The Portel City Council has announced it will continue to reimburse the costs of activity notebooks for students from the 1st to the 12th grade during the 2026/2027 school year. To receive the reimbursement, guardians must purchase the notebooks adopted by the educational institution and present an invoice issued with the student's name and tax identification number (NIF), along with proof of IBAN.
Requirements vary slightly by grade level. For students in the 1st through 9th grades, documentation must include the student's full name, NIF, grade, school, and address, as well as the guardian's contact information. Secondary school students (10th to 12th grade) must also specify their course or field of study. Invoices can be submitted in person at the Loja do Munícipe or digitally via email, though only original digital invoices are accepted by email.
Separately, financial estimates suggest that the total annual cost of returning to school can reach approximately 1,500 euros per student in the public school system when including meals, family support components, after-school activities, study trips, and extracurriculars. Without these additional costs, the reference value drops to around 570 euros annually.
