Porthdinllaen: A car-free coastal village in Wales

Porthdinllaen, a coastal village located on the Llŷn Peninsula in Gwynedd, Wales, is recognized as a car-free destination that maintains an unaltered appearance. Managed and protected by the National Trust since 1994, the settlement lacks roads, vehicles, and public waste bins, offering a tranquil environment for tourists seeking coastal landscapes and sandy beaches.

Visitors must park their vehicles in Morfa Nefyn and walk approximately 20 minutes to reach the village via a beach path or a promontory trail. Due to the lack of public waste facilities, visitors are required to carry their own trash out of the area.

A central attraction is the Tŷ Coch Inn, a distinctive red seaside pub. The establishment is noted for its location and service, though it maintains strict policies, such as not accepting table reservations and remaining closed on Sunday evenings without offering dinner.
