Portimão to host MMA and Jiu-Jitsu Algarve Cup competitions

Portimão will host a weekend of combat sports at the Boavista Sports Pavilion. The MMA Algarve Cup is scheduled for October 24, followed by the Jiu-Jitsu Algarve Cup on October 25.

The MMA event is described as one of the largest of its kind ever held in Portugal, featuring 44 athletes from various clubs and regions across multiple age and weight categories. Participants range from 12-year-old trainees to senior athletes over 20 years old. The competition aims to provide safe and balanced matches tailored to the experience and weight of each fighter.

The Jiu-Jitsu Algarve Cup on October 25 is expected to bring together approximately 200 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes. These events are organized by Portifight — Associação Portimão Fight Club and the National Association of Mixed Martial Arts and Associated Disciplines (ANAMMDA), with support from the local municipality.
