Portland collegiate athletics: Soccer and golf updates

The University of Portland women's soccer team is set to begin conference play this Saturday, Sept. 26, against the defending West Coast Conference champions, the Pepperdine Waves. The match will take place at Merlo Field as part of a homecoming doubleheader that also includes the men's soccer team playing the LMU Lions.

The Pilots enter the matchup with a strong home record, having secured three consecutive shutout victories at Merlo Field. Key performers include Tayvi Khann and Ruby Settle, who provided the goals in their recent victory over UC Davis, and goalkeeper Sophia Hills, who holds the fourth shutout of the season.

In women's golf, the Portland State Vikings are preparing to compete in the Sun Mountain Intercollegiate in Montana. The tournament features exclusively Big Sky Conference teams, including host Montana, Eastern Washington, and Idaho State. Portland State's recent performances have been led by Cynthia Valerie Ong and Caithlyn Ong, both of whom have achieved career-best scores in recent tournaments.
