Portland Councilor Loretta Smith condemns recent gun violence killing

Portland City Council District 1 Councilor Loretta Smith issued a statement after a weekend shooting that left 22‑year‑old Terrell J. Granberg dead and injured a woman outside the Alberta Street Pub. She expressed condolences to Granberg’s family, friends and teammates, and offered prayers for all victims of the city’s recent surge in gun violence.

Smith called for stronger public‑safety policies, emphasizing prevention, opportunity, accountability and community trust to ensure Portland residents can live without fear. She pledged to work on measures that make neighborhoods safer and to support first‑responders and medical staff who cared for the injured.
