Portland Fire defeat New York Liberty 81-74

Portland Fire rallied in the fourth quarter of Monday night’s game to beat the New York Liberty 81‑74. Sarah Ashlee Barker scored all seven of her points during a decisive run that gave Portland a 72‑65 lead, and Carla Leite capped the surge with a three‑pointer in the final minutes. The Fire finished with a 4‑3 record while the Liberty fell to 3‑4.

New York played without star guard Sabrina Ionescu and could not close the gap despite Breanna Stewart’s 25 points. The Liberty also saw limited contributions after Marine Johannes’ 11 points and a spectacular play by the French guard that linked to Jonquel Jones. The loss marked the Liberty’s third consecutive defeat.
