PortMiami anticipates high-density cruise season in 2026-27
PortMiami is preparing for a high-volume 2026-27 cruise season, with 81 days projected to host between seven and ten ships simultaneously. December is expected to be particularly busy, with up to ten ships docking at once for more than ten days.
The upcoming season will feature a mix of massive contemporary vessels and new luxury ships making maiden calls, including the Icon of the Seas, MSC World America, and several luxury vessels from Ponant Explorations, Explora Journeys, and Ritz Carlton. Additionally, new ships such as the Norwegian Aura and Royal Caribbean’s Hero of the Seas are scheduled to debut.
To manage the increased pressure on terminal entrances, parking, and passenger transportation, Miami-Dade County officials have introduced a traffic management plan. This initiative includes AI-powered technology, informational programs, and complimentary airport transfers for selected cruises to streamline access and improve the passenger experience.
