Porto Alegre initiates urban revitalization and sustainable infrastructure projects

Porto Alegre has launched several urban improvement initiatives aimed at historical preservation and sustainable infrastructure. In the city's Historic Center, revitalization work has begun at Praça Otávio Rocha through a public-private partnership. The project includes painting, urban furniture restoration, and landscaping. A central feature is the recovery of a historic chalet, which will house a gastronomic establishment, Fermenta Pão e Cozinha, as part of a conservation agreement managed by the group Mule Bule through May 2030.

Simultaneously, the Municipal Secretariat of Urban Services is conducting a technical demonstration of Italian recycling technology in the Sarandi neighborhood. Using the Simex ART 1000 machine, the city is testing a cold asphalt recycling process on Avenida Bernardino Silveira Amorim. This method freshens, crushes, and mixes existing pavement with a rejuvenating additive on-site, eliminating the need for new asphalt or waste disposal. The technology aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and minimize traffic disruptions during roadwork.
