Porto Alegre sidewalk collapse swallows three parked cars
Three vehicles fell into a hole in Porto Alegre after a sidewalk collapsed in the Floresta neighborhood on Monday morning. The incident occurred on Rua Almirante Tamandaré around 9:20 a.m., involving a Peugeot 3008, a Volkswagen Nivus, and a Hyundai HB20 that were parked in the area.
The collapse caused a tree to lean against a nearby company wall. The Municipal Department of Water and Sewage (Dmae) dispatched a team to evaluate the sewage gallery structure and identify the cause of the rupture. Firefighters and Civil Defense attended the scene, confirming there were no gas leaks and no injuries were reported.
