Porto Belo to Open Largest Costa Esmeralda Hospital Complex Within Six Months

A diagnostic imaging clinic operated by Via Imagem will start services in the next six months as the first phase of a R$200 million health project in Porto Belo, Santa Catarina. The clinic will offer magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, digital radiography, digital mammography, bone densitometry, body composition analysis and advanced ultrasonography.

The full hospital complex, being built by Thozen Construtora and owned by Magnos Franzen de Souza, will cover 6,000 m², become the largest on the Costa Esmeralda, and accommodate up to 200 patients daily. It will include 30 inpatient beds, a 10‑bed ICU, six operating rooms, 24‑hour emergency care, an ambulatory unit, laboratory, blood bank and a comprehensive imaging centre.

The project is expected to generate roughly 150 jobs and follows a 72 % population increase in Porto Belo over the past decade (from 16,000 to over 27,000 residents). Chinese firm Neusoft Medical Systems has also announced a R$250 million investment in the city to boost production of diagnostic imaging equipment.
