Porto Book Fair features Palestinian poet Mohammed El Kurd and honors Inês Lourenço

The 13th edition of the Porto Book Fair runs from 21 August to 6 September in the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal, offering more than 200 activities. Organisers describe the fair as a “fair made by women”, emphasizing feminist and reflective discussions on war, gender‑based violence, populism and civic participation.

Among the international guests is Palestinian journalist‑poet Mohammed El Kurd, who will speak about the role of language in resistance to oppression. The programme also includes performances by poet‑actress Rim Battal, dramatist Angélica Liddell and other artists.

Portuguese poet Inês Lourenço is being honored; her work will be debated, recited, staged and exhibited in a show titled “Na Lâmina Implacável do Tempo” at the Biblioteca Municipal Almeida Garrett, running through 7 November and curated by Rita Roque.
