Porto Ceresio to host exhibition of over 200 historical dolls

The Palazzo della Cultura “Salvatore Ferrara” in Porto Ceresio will host an exhibition titled “Il mondo delle bambole” (The World of Dolls) from October 10 to 18, 2026. Curated by Imeria and Stefano Ferrara, the event features over 200 selected pieces that trace the historical evolution of dolls from ancient Greco-Roman ritual objects to sophisticated artistic collectibles.

The exhibition highlights the craftsmanship of the 19th and 20th centuries, particularly focusing on fine porcelain dolls that reflected the fashions and social spirit of their eras. Visitors can explore a variety of styles, including traditional cloth dolls and late 20th-century artisanal masterpieces characterized by intricate sartorial details and elaborate hairstyles.

Sponsored by the Municipality and the Library of Porto Ceresio, the exhibition is free to the public. The event will also include a musical performance by the Borgo Musicale ensemble.
