Porto da Barra implements exclusive swimming zone for safety

A dedicated safety zone for swimmers has been established at Porto da Barra in Salvador. Following the installation of protective yellow buoys, the area is now operational to prevent accidents involving motorized watercraft.

The project, approved by the Navy, uses five moorings to delimit a 90-meter stretch of sand. While motorized vessels are prohibited from this zone, the layout allows access for small boats, canoes, and nautical sports through a specific designated section. This measure follows previous accidents in Salvador involving jet skis.

The initiative cost R$ 450,000 for the acquisition and installation of the materials. According to Semar official Duda Lomanto, the project brings Porto da Barra into compliance with safety standards seen in high-traffic international beaches.
