Porto de Mós celebrates World Tourism Day with local heritage activities
The municipality of Porto de Mós celebrated World Tourism Day with a series of activities designed to showcase the local territory, heritage, and natural resources. Held on September 26 and 27, the program featured seven different experiences proposed by five local tourism entities.
Activities included free visits to the Castle of Porto de Mós, which saw the highest engagement with 176 registrations, as well as workshops for cheese and bread production, electric bike tours through the Serras de Aire e Candeeiros, and a seminar on the role of artificial intelligence in citizen science. The initiative also included nature-focused activities such as mushroom foraging.
The campaign attracted a diverse group of international visitors from countries including Spain, Brazil, Ukraine, Canada, the United States, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Israel. To support local businesses, the municipality provided welcome kits containing local products to overnight guests and offered discounts on participating activities.
