Porto Empedocle vehicle fire triggers arson investigation

An overnight fire in Piazza Vittorio Pozzo, located in the center of Porto Empedocle, caused significant damage to two parked vehicles. The blaze reportedly began in a Renault Kadjar owned by a 30-year-old woman and quickly spread to a nearby Fiat 500 belonging to a 36-year-old resident.

Local residents raised the alarm after being woken by the smell of smoke and the sight of flames. Firefighters arrived on the scene to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings or other parked cars.

The Carabinieri of the Agrigento Company and firefighters conducted investigations at the site, searching for traces of flammable liquids or other evidence of potential arson. The Public Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation into damage caused by fire. Investigators noted that the lack of video surveillance in the area may complicate efforts to reconstruct the events leading up to the fire.
