Porto Mantovano announces 1.86 million euro Right to Study Plan
The municipality of Porto Mantovano has presented its Right to Study Plan for the 2026/2027 school year, allocating 1,867,543.38 euros to support educational services, families, and inclusive learning. Mayor Maria Paola Salvarani stated that the investment aims to support young generations and provide quality training. A significant portion of the budget, totaling 446,721.35 euros, is dedicated to specialized educational assistance for students with disabilities, including the ECoS project in collaboration with the Alce Nero social cooperative.
However, the opposition group ‘Voi per Porto’, led by Giampaolo Voi, has criticized the plan during a City Council meeting. The group expressed concerns regarding the administration’s lack of long-term vision concerning the area’s demographic decline, noting a decrease of 112 students across local schools. They specifically highlighted that the ‘Collodi’ nursery school is underutilized, serving only 111 children out of a projected 175. Additionally, the opposition questioned the economic reporting, suggesting the total cost appears artificially inflated by including mandatory or ordinary expenses to make the plan’s value seem higher.
