Porto-Novo hosts Be The Best marathon with 2 million FCFA in prizes

The Be The Best marathon took place in Porto-Novo, Benin, on August 9, 2026. The annual sporting event attracted approximately 1,000 professional and amateur runners and walkers from Benin and abroad.

Organized by the Be The Best NGO in partnership with the Porto-Novo municipality, the National Agency for Employment (AnpE), and the Benin Athletics Federation, the event featured several categories: a 10 km popular walk, a 10 km race, a 21 km semi-marathon, and a 42 km marathon. More than 2 million FCFA in prizes were distributed to the top performers.

Under the theme ‘Women, Health & Development,’ the event also served to raise public awareness regarding health issues and promote the cultural heritage of Porto-Novo. The competition was officially launched by Mayor Rachadou Toukourou.
