Porto Seguro launches insurance for AI and VR glasses

Porto Seguro has introduced new insurance coverage specifically designed for AI-powered glasses and virtual reality devices. This addition to the company’s ‘Smart and Games’ product line marks what it claims is the first offering by a Brazilian insurer tailored to this emerging category of hardware. Customers can choose between two coverage modes: one covering theft and breakage, and another focused on theft with international protection. Additionally, digital e-readers are now included in the Notebook and Tablet insurance portfolio.

In a broader technological shift, the landscape is moving toward autonomous AI agents that execute complex tasks directly on mobile devices. Driven by 2nm chip architecture, these systems allow large language models to run locally, enhancing privacy and speed. This evolution is accompanied by the rise of minimalist augmented reality glasses and improved connectivity through 5G Advanced and early 6G testing in urban centers like Lisbon and Porto.
