Porto Seguro unveils Plano Safira travel insurance with up to $200,000 coverage

Porto Seguro has introduced a new travel‑insurance product called Plano Safira. The plan provides coverage of up to US$200,000 (or €200,000) for medical and hospital expenses, and includes more than 23 coverages such as flight‑delay compensation, baggage loss, 24‑hour assistance via WhatsApp, telemedicine, and discounts on car rentals, pet‑friendly lodging and international data‑chip services. It is available for trips of up to 365 days and can be purchased by travelers up to 90 years old through the insurer’s network of partner brokers.

The launch comes as Brazilian outbound travel spending reached US$21.7 billion in 2025, the highest level in recent years, and a Ministry of Tourism survey shows 53 % of Brazilians plan to increase their overseas trips in 2026. Jarbas Medeiros, director of elementary and life insurance at Porto Seguro, said the product responds to growing consumer awareness of medical‑cost risks abroad. The company also noted that it has been voted the best travel‑insurance provider in Brazil for the sixth consecutive year.
