Porto Velho accepts private prescriptions for free municipal medications

The Porto Velho City Hall, through the Municipal Health Secretariat (Semusa), has clarified that medical prescriptions issued by private healthcare providers are valid for obtaining free medications at municipal public pharmacies. This measure aims to ensure universal health access and prevent citizens from needing unnecessary consultations within the Unified Health System (SUS) solely to transcribe private prescriptions.

To optimize the process, residents can use the FarmaPub digital platform to check real-time medication stock and locate specific health units. To collect medication at a Basic Health Unit (UBS), patients must present the original prescription (valid and using generic names), a photo ID, and their SUS card or CPF. Certain medications, such as psychotropic drugs, require specific controlled prescriptions as mandated by Anvisa regulations.
