Porto Velho implements traffic bollards to improve road safety

Porto Velho has implemented new traffic bollards in strategic corridors to organize vehicle flow and prevent dangerous maneuvers. The flexible cylinders, made of materials like polyurethane or polyethylene, act as visual barriers to help drivers identify lane limits and prevent irregular turns that risk the safety of motorists and pedestrians.

The equipment is currently installed at several locations, including Avenida Jorge Teixeira, Estrada da Penal, and the intersection of Avenida Raimundo Cantuária with Nações Unidas. Municipal Secretary of Security, Traffic, and Mobility, Iremar Lima, noted that the bollards complement existing signage and must be respected by drivers.

These installations are part of a broader mobility initiative in the capital, which includes measures such as 'Faixa Verde' and 'Direita Livre'. Mayor Léo Moraes stated that these interventions aim to identify critical points and adopt solutions to make urban travel safer and more organized.
