Porto Velho student accused of killing elderly man understood crime's gravity

A psychiatric report has concluded that Vitória Caroline Marangoni Schneider, a student accused of killing 68-year-old Odair Brustolin in Porto Velho, understood the illegality of her actions at the time of the crime. The report, approved by the court on Wednesday, indicates she recognized the gravity and potential consequences of her conduct, albeit in a partial and fragmented manner.

Schneider faces charges of qualified homicide brought by the Public Ministry of Rondônia (MPRO). The prosecution alleges the incident began after a dispute between the student and residents of her condominium. Following a confrontation, Schneider reportedly struck a gate with her vehicle and engaged in a verbal altercation with neighbors.

According to the indictment, after an interaction with Brustolin, Schneider allegedly threatened him and his family, demanding they kneel and apologize. The prosecution claims that after Brustolin explained he could not kneel due to physical issues, Schneider drove her vehicle into his residence.
