Portobello’s Grill in Baton Rouge Shuts Down After 27 Years

Portobello’s Grill on George O’Neal Lane in Baton Rouge announced its permanent closure, with the final brunch served on Sunday. Owner Peter Sclafani posted on Facebook thanking longtime patrons and staff, noting the decision was difficult but theirs alone.

Gift cards for the now‑closed restaurant will be honored at its sister venue, SoLou, and many former Portobello’s employees are expected to join the SoLou team. The original Portobello’s Grill opened in 1996 under Kiva Guidroz, and the current ownership, led by Sclafani after a 2020 stake purchase, had previously updated branding and menus post‑pandemic. Earlier in the year the location was shifted toward catering and private events before the final shutdown.
