Portoferraio faces criticism over waste and urban decay

The Circolo Sinistra Italiana AVS Isola d’Elba has criticized the local administration in Portoferraio for a perceived lack of maintenance and strategy regarding urban decorum and waste management.

Patrizia Piscitello, representing the group, highlighted instances of significant waste accumulation at the foot of the Santa Fine bastion and within abandoned sports facilities at Ghiaie. The group noted that previous administrations had conducted extensive cleaning operations in these same areas, collecting hundreds of tons of refuse.

The opposition claims the current administration's failure to prioritize the preservation of historical and cultural heritage, combined with delays in waste services, represents a failure in municipal planning.
