Portoferraio police arrest second suspect in Piombino robbery

Carabinieri have arrested a second suspect involved in a robbery that occurred in Piombino on August 4. The individual, a North African citizen, was identified and detained during a routine check at the port of Portoferraio.

During the incident in via Roma, the suspect and an accomplice allegedly threatened a young man with an improvised weapon to steal his bicycle and cash. While authorities managed to intercept one perpetrator at the scene during the initial attack, the second suspect fled. Following an investigation and a pretrial detention order issued by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Livorno Court on August 6, the suspect was apprehended on Elba Island.

The arrested individual has been taken to the Livorno prison and remains at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
