Portonave expands quay to allow simultaneous ship docking

The Portonave terminal in Navegantes has expanded its operational capacity by completing a new 250-meter section of its pier reinforcement project. This brings the total operational quay length to 700 meters, allowing the terminal to accommodate two ships simultaneously.

Previously, the terminal could only handle one vessel at a time due to ongoing construction that began in January 2024. The expansion enables more agile operations and improved efficiency for shipping lines. Once the entire project is finalized, expected in the last quarter of 2026, the pier will be capable of hosting up to three ships at once. The upgraded structure is designed to accommodate modern container ships up to 400 meters in length and includes preparations for shore power systems to reduce fuel consumption while vessels are docked.
