Portovenere emerges as tranquil alternative to Italy's crowded Cinque Terre

Portovenere, a small town on the Ligurian coast south of the famous Cinque Terre, offers colorful pastel houses, a quieter harbor and authentic atmosphere compared with the heavily visited Cinque Terre villages.
