Portugal adopts Sharp Vision technology to combat illegal gambling
Portugal's Gaming Regulation and Inspection Service (SRIJ) has selected the French company Sharp Vision to implement a digital platform aimed at combating the illegal online gambling market. The contract, valued at 19,990 euros, is initially set for one year with the possibility of a one-year extension.
The initiative seeks to transition from manual oversight to an automated system capable of detecting illegal websites and suggesting they be blocked by national authorities. Cyril Casanova, president of Sharp Vision, noted that the technology is intended to help regulators understand the challenges of the illegal market and improve the speed of enforcement, as illegal operators often use sophisticated technology to outpace authorities.
By adopting this comprehensive automated tool, Portugal aims to modernize its inspection mechanisms, moving from a reactive manual approach to a model of permanent digital monitoring.
