Portugal and China advance academic and vocational cooperation

Portugal and China are advancing bilateral cooperation in education and professional training. Portugal has submitted a proposal to China for the mutual recognition of academic degrees, including bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. Chinese authorities have agreed to analyze the proposal, which aims to resolve a long-standing impasse and facilitate the mobility of students and faculty.

Additionally, the Luban Workshop in Portugal—the first of its kind in Europe—continues to serve as a platform for vocational education exchange. Established in 2018 through a partnership between the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal and the Tianjin Vocational and Technical College, the workshop focuses on electrical automation and industrial robotics. The initiative has trained over 500 students and introduced Chinese technical teaching models and equipment to Portugal’s manufacturing sector.
