Portugal and Spain collaborate on cultural and environmental cross-border projects
Various cross-border initiatives are fostering cooperation between Portugal and Spain across cultural, environmental, and economic sectors.
In Évora, the Iberian Laboratory for Cultural Cooperation in Low-Density Territories will host a meeting on October 23 at the Monastery of São Bento de Cástris. The event aims to connect cultural professionals from both nations to identify funding and development opportunities for rural and border regions, focusing on heritage, youth, and sustainability.
In Bragança, the VIAPIS project held its second working meeting on October 16 to promote beekeeping and pollinator conservation. Spanning approximately 2,000 square kilometers between Portugal and Spain, the project includes plans to create an ecological corridor and a pedagogical apiary to support local ecosystems and the economic value of honey products.
Additionally, the Terras sem Sombra Festival recently held events in Portalegre, including a concert by the Polish Violin Duo at the Museum of Tapestry of Portalegre. The festival also featured heritage and biodiversity tours in the Serra de São Mamede region.
