Beyond safety, the Mediterranean climate—offering over 300 days of sunshine annually—and a lifestyle centered on outdoor culture are major draws. While traditional interest focused on Lisbon, Cascais, and the Algarve, buyers are increasingly exploring regions such as the Douro Valley, Comporta, and Alentejo.

Economic factors also play a role. The Economist named Portugal ‘Economy of the Year’ in 2025, citing low inflation and steady employment. Additionally, the cost of living remains a significant advantage; for instance, it is estimated to be approximately 30% lower than in the United States, providing increased purchasing power for foreign residents.
