Portugal celebrates São Martinho traditions with wine and regional gastronomy
Various Portuguese establishments are celebrating the São Martinho tradition, a seasonal ritual marking the end of the harvest and the arrival of new wine.
In Porto, the Flôr restaurant at Hotel The Largo is hosting an event featuring an exclusive 'Vinho do Ano' tasting led by VINEVINU producers. The experience includes traditional elements such as the preparation of Queimada and seasonal snacks by Chef Nuno Mendes, highlighting regional ingredients like chestnuts and pork.
In the Alentejo region, Adega José de Sousa in Reguengos de Monsaraz is also observing the festivities. The celebration focuses on the tradition of wine produced in 'talha' (clay amphorae) and includes tastings of new wine paired with local cheeses and sausages.
