Portugal coach Jorge Jesus says Neymar's performance has ended

Jorge Jesus was introduced as the new manager of the Portugal national football team. In his first press conference he recalled a conversation with Brazilian forward Neymar that took place while Jesus was coach of Al‑Hilal in Saudi Arabia. Jesus said he told the player “Tu finish” – meaning “you’re finished” – emphasizing that team selection is based on current performance, not player reputation.

He noted he has coached two of the three players he considers the best in the world – Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar – and that the third, Lionel Messi, remains uncoached. Jesus stressed the same principle will guide his decisions for Portugal, including how he will handle Ronaldo, while reiterating that individual status does not dictate playing time.

The remarks attracted media attention, highlighting Jesus' straightforward style and his assessment of Neymar’s physical condition after a serious knee injury that limited his Al‑Hilal appearances.
