Portugal combats wildfires in Odemira and Terras de Bouro
On 10 June 2026 a wildfire in the São Luís parish of Odemira, Beja district, kept advancing, prompting the mobilisation of 143 fire personnel, 52 vehicles, two aircraft and two helicopters. Sub‑regional emergency commander Tiago Bugio said one front had been beaten while the southern front near a water line remained resistant; he expected the fire to be controlled in the coming hours.
The following day, 11 June 2026, a separate blaze burned vegetation on a steep, hard‑to‑reach slope in Valdosende, Terras de Bouro, Braga district. About 75 firefighters and 18 vehicles were deployed; the fire was away from settlements and no victims were reported. Both incidents were overseen by Portugal’s civil‑protection authorities.
