Portugal consumer complaints rise amid after-sales issues
In Portugal, consumer complaints via the Portal da Queixa reached 106,619 during the first half of 2026, a 1.6% increase compared to the same period in 2025. The number of brands targeted rose by 20.8% to 6,152.
Issues regarding after-sales service have become more prominent, specifically concerning warranties, insurance, repairs, and refunds. Notably, complaints regarding warranty refusals surged by 82%, while insurance claim decisions rose by 63.7%. Inadequate repairs or maintenance also saw a 51.3% increase.
Data indicates that 40.3% of closed complaints ended without a resolution, up from 37.5% in the previous year. The median time required to close a complaint increased from 29 to 31 days. The postal, transport, and logistics sector recorded the highest volume of complaints, while the energy sector saw the largest relative growth.
