Portugal defeats Norway to reach Nations League quarterfinals

Portugal secured a place in the UEFA Nations League quarterfinals after defeating Norway 2-1 at the Estadio Do Dragao. Despite falling behind to a 36th-minute goal by Kristoffer Ajer, Portugal responded quickly with a goal from João Cancelo in the 38th minute, followed by a 79th-minute winner from Gonçalo Ramos.

The victory marks a significant milestone for the team, which played its first home match without Cristiano Ronaldo. The star player recently returned to Saudi Arabia following disagreements with head coach Jorge Jesus.

Addressing Ronaldo's future, Jesus stated that the player remains eligible for selection provided he continues playing for Al Nassr and expresses a desire to return to the national team. Jesus emphasized that while he maintains strict coaching principles, Ronaldo remains a symbol for the country and the decision to include him in future squads rests with the player.
