Portugal diesel price falls while gasoline rises in weekly update

Diesel (gasóleo) prices in Portugal are expected to drop by about three cents per litre, while the price of 95‑octane gasoline will increase by roughly one cent per litre for the upcoming week, according to forecasts from the National Association of Fuel Retailers (ANAREC). The average price of diesel on the previous Friday was €1.86 per litre and gasoline €1.928 per litre, as reported by the Directorate‑General of Energy and Geology (DGEG).

Fuel prices in Portugal are set by individual retailers in a liberalised market, allowing variation by location and competition. The government retains an extraordinary tax‑compensation mechanism that can be triggered when weekly price swings exceed ten cents per litre, but the current forecasted changes remain well below that threshold.
