Portugal driving regulations: Category B limits and age requirements

Regarding age-related regulations, there is no general age limit for Category B drivers, but specific renewal requirements apply. Drivers must renew their licenses at ages 50, 60, 65, and 70. Once a driver reaches 70, the license must be renewed every two years.
Medical fitness is a prerequisite for renewal. For drivers aged 70 and older, if the medical assessment is not performed by their regular physician, they must provide a detailed medical history—including information on cardiovascular, neurological, or psychiatric conditions—to the assessing doctor. While psychological evaluations are not mandatory for all Group 1 drivers over 70, physicians may request them if deemed necessary.
