Portugal establishes national network for traditional arts and crafts
Portugal has officially published the regulations for the 'Rede Portuguesa Saber Fazer', a new national network designed to foster cooperation and institutional articulation within the domain of traditional arts and crafts. Coordinated by the Directorate-General for the Arts (DGARTES), the network aims to safeguard, value, and promote traditional practices through identification, study, and documentation across the national territory.
The initiative seeks to encourage intergenerational knowledge transfer, innovation, and research while strengthening dialogue between public and private entities. Eligible members include artisans, productive units, municipalities, educational institutions, museums, and cultural centers. This network consolidates the 'Saber Fazer Portugal' program into a permanent public policy, building upon previous investments supported by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
