Portugal expands specialized technological centers in education
Educational institutions in Portugal are launching new specialized technological centers to better prepare students for the modern labor market.
In Louriçal, the Instituto D. João V has inaugurated a Specialized Technological Center (CTE) focused on informatics. The project involved an investment of approximately 1.09 million euros, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and the European Union. This center provides advanced equipment and digital resources for professional courses in software development and computing systems and networks. The initiative, supported by the Pombal municipality, aims to attract qualified professionals and business investment to the region.
In Barreiro, plans are underway to expand educational offerings through two new technological centers at the Escola Secundária Augusto Cabrita. Scheduled for inauguration on November 23, 2026, these centers will focus on informatics and industry to meet current workforce demands.
