Portugal national team begins Jorge Jesus era for Nations League

Portugal has commenced its training camp under new head coach Jorge Jesus in preparation for the UEFA Nations League. The 72-year-old manager, who succeeded Roberto Martínez, oversaw his first sessions at the Cidade do Futebol in Oeiras with a 25-man squad.

Cristiano Ronaldo remains a central figure in the squad as the team begins its defense of the Nations League title. The call-ups include notable names such as João Palhinha, Fábio Silva, and new additions Samuel Soares and Nuno Tavares. Jesus has emphasized an attacking philosophy and has selected several players he has previously coached to facilitate his tactical implementation.

Portugal is scheduled to face Wales at the Estádio José Alvalade on Thursday, with Donatas Rumsas appointed as the match referee. The upcoming qualification window also includes fixtures against Norway and Denmark.
