Portugal fuel prices drop as diesel and petrol costs fall
Fuel prices in Portugal are seeing a reduction, marking the first simultaneous drop in diesel and petrol prices since August. According to the Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP), diesel is expected to fall by 6 cents per litre, while petrol 95 is projected to decrease by 2 cents per litre.
Finance Minister Joaquim Miranda Sarmino confirmed that the government plans to extend the reduction mechanism for the Tax on Petroleum and Energy Products (ISP) until December 31, 2026. The continuation of these support measures remains tied to geopolitical stability in the Middle East.
While prices are easing, some political groups continue to call for further measures to minimize fuel cost increases and have raised questions regarding national fuel reserves.
