The Entidade Reguladora dos Serviços Energéticos (ERSE) released the weekly "efficient" fuel price for 3‑9 August. Before tax, gasoline 95 octane averaged €1.016 per litre and diesel €1.268. Including taxes and the CO₂ surcharge, the price rose to €1.993 per litre for gasoline and €2.121 for diesel. Compared with the previous week, gasoline fell 0.7% while diesel increased 1.3%, reflecting changes in international refined‑fuel quotations.
Industry sources expect only modest movements this week: gasoline may drop up to €0.01 per litre and diesel may rise up to €0.02. Prices will stay above €2 per litre, marking the fifth consecutive week of diesel increases and ending a four‑week streak of gasoline rises. Since the start of the year, diesel has risen €0.51 per litre and gasoline €0.36, keeping Portugal among the EU’s most expensive fuel markets.
