Portugal fuel prices: Gasoline rises as diesel decreases

Fuel prices in Portugal are seeing a shift as gasoline prices are expected to rise by five cents per liter, while diesel prices are projected to decrease by one cent per liter. Based on data from the Direção-Geral de Energia e Geologia (DGEG) and forecasts from the ACP, these changes will bring the costs of the two fuels closer together.

For a standard 50-liter tank, a diesel refill is expected to cost 106.80 euros, a reduction of 50 cents from the previous week. Conversely, a 50-liter tank of 95 simple gasoline is expected to rise to 106.15 euros, an increase of 2.50 euros.

The government has confirmed that the Petroleum Products Tax (ISP) discount, which provides a relief of approximately 9.6 cents per liter for diesel and 7.8 cents for gasoline, will be extended until the end of the year. Additionally, a new decree-law requires gas stations to clearly display the ISP discount with the label “Redução ISP+IVA” starting October 17, under penalty of fines.
