Portugal hands over 95 state-owned buildings to local municipalities

The Portuguese government transferred management of 21 public buildings to 16 municipalities during a ceremony in Porto, raising the total number of state properties handed over since October 2024 to 95. The deals involve 71 agreements with 64 municipalities and represent about €80 million in investment for renovation and rehabilitation, according to the state real‑estate agency Estamo.

Among the transfers, the municipality of Ansião received two properties to be used under its Local Housing Strategy, aimed at expanding affordable housing options for residents. The agreements were signed in the presence of Infrastructure and Housing Minister Miguel Pinto Luz and Secretary of State for Treasury and Finance João Silva Lopes.
