Portugal holiday costs show mixed trends in July

Data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) shows mixed trends in holiday-related costs for July. While some sectors saw price increases, others experienced significant declines, impacting the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

Organized holiday packages saw a sharp increase of 10.61% from June to July, contributing 0.061 points to the monthly CPI variation. Additionally, prices in restaurants, cafes, and similar establishments with full service rose by 0.67%, contributing 0.041 points to inflation.

Conversely, the hospitality and domestic aviation sectors saw price drops. Accommodation costs, including hotels and motels, fell by 1.36%, contributing -0.041 points to the CPI. Domestic air passenger transport saw a particularly notable decrease of 20.14% compared to June.
