Portugal hosts hundreds of activities for European Heritage Days
The European Heritage Days, an initiative by the Council of Europe and the European Commission, are taking place across Portugal. Under the theme ‘Revive, resist, reinvent’, the event aims to raise awareness about the preservation of cultural identity and historical heritage amidst challenges such as digitalization, climate change, and social mobility.
In Portugal, more than 400 activities have been scheduled, including guided tours, exhibitions, workshops, and lectures. Specific highlights include staged visits at the Palácio Fronteira in Lisbon, activities at the Lisbon Astronomical Observatory, and theatrical performances in Armamar.
In Borba, the program features heritage walks, puppet sessions, and guided visits to sites such as the Ermida de São Miguel Arcanjo, the Borba Castle, and the Restoration War Interpretation Center. The event serves to open monuments to the public and promote the safeguarding of shared cultural history.
