Portugal hosts landmark rap concert and MEO Marés festival

Rapper Mark Delman, a leading figure in Cape Verdean Creole rap, will perform a solo concert on 27 November at Lisbon's historic Coliseu dos Recreios. The event, produced by Ao Sul do Mundo, marks the first time Creole rap has been featured on that stage and celebrates Delman's two‑decade career.

The MEO Marés 2026 festival took place in Perafita, Matosinhos from 17 to 19 July. Day one highlighted hip‑hop with acts such as Dealema and Da Weasel, while a symphonic version of Da Weasel was performed. Subsequent days featured performances by Seal, a celebration of Diogo Piçarra’s ten‑year career, and a finale of African and Latin rhythms with artists like Calema and Ozuna.
