Portugal hosts various events for European Heritage Days
Various Portuguese municipalities are hosting activities as part of the European Heritage Days.
In São Brás de Alportel, the Municipal Archaeology Office has organized a program including guided tours of the historic center and the Calçadinha archaeological site. The schedule also features a discussion on medieval fairs led by a historian from the University of Algarve and educational workshops for local schools.
In Alcanena, the Projeto Couros is facilitating community engagement through technical visits focused on the environmental renaturalization of the Ribeiro do Carvalho and Ribeira dos Algares areas. This initiative includes international cooperation via the Projeto Tannoria to preserve industrial heritage related to the tanning industry.
Vila Viçosa will host the closing session of the European Heritage Days on September 26 at the Cineteatro Florbela Espanca. The event, themed ‘Reviver, resistir, reinventar: Património e Sustentabilidade’, will focus on the intersection of cultural heritage and sustainability.
